  • Product Description

Beyerdynamic's M 160 is a dynamic double ribbon microphone featuring a hypercardioid polar pattern, effective for all types of remote and in studio voice reproduction. In the recording studio, the M 160 is recommended for miking instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, pianos, and saxophones, as well as for hi hat and toms. Its non glare black surface and compact size allow for unobtrusive use in TV or film studios. In conjunction with the M 130 dynamic double ribbon microphone (sold separately), the M 160 is ideal for stereo recordings in MS (Mid Side) technique. Since 1924 Beyerdynamic has remained a German family owned company committed to continuous research and innovative developments for the audio market. All over the world, Beyerdynamic is known for the use of the latest technologies and a high quality standard. All Beyerdynamic products are made in Germany.

    A Ribbon Mic for Drums?

YES! The M160 is extremely versatile and with a full frequency range. It breaks the mold of the typical "Dark" sound of normal ribbon mics. A certain classic rock band used two as overheads on a their kit to create one of the most famous drum sounds of all time. M160's are not just great for overheads, use them on toms, snare, and our favorite - HiHats.

    M160 on Guitar Amps?

Some of the most legendary guitar sounds of all time have been captured with an M160. Grammy winning producers have relied on the M160 full frequency response to create epic guitar tones that have gone down in rock history as some of the best.

On live stages and in the recording studio, the M160 is a must have microphone to create classic sounds of the past, and is shaping the newest sounds and tones for today.

    Made to Measure, in Germany

The "Made in Germany" quality promise applies to product development and manufacture: the designs of beyerdynamic engineers and designers in Heilbronn are then built by approximately 180 highly qualified employees in Germany – mostly by hand.
