Product Description
Featuring seven inspirational Lexicon reverbs, the DigiTech Polara will be the new architect of your soundscape, defining space and adding dimension to your playing. The Polara's flexible reverbs cover a full spectrum, from the intimate warmth of "Room", to the vast expansiveness of "Hall", through time with the cosmic power of "Reverse", and anchored by Lexicon's revered "Modulated", "Plate" and "Spring" reverbs. In addition to those classics, the Polara introduces the new "Halo" reverb. The "Halo" reverb with cascading octaves interspersed in the reverb decays will cast a heavenly glow over your tone. With its new, compact size and vacuum-style footswitch, the Polara truly represents the latest evolution in DigiTech pedal design. We've put years of experience into every detail of its mechanical and sonic blueprint. The Polara offers independent Level, Liveliness, Decay and Type controls; Stereo Inputs and Outputs; a Soft Click Footswitch; and a Reverb Tails On/Off Toggle Switch. It is true bypass and uses a 9V DC power supply to easily integrate into your existing pedalboard.

I have not had any issues with power requirements, works just fine with a 9v cable from my board supply.
The Spring setting sounds more natural than my Boss RV-5. I'm not an expert on spring reverbs, but I have no complaints about this one. The Plate reverb also sounds very good to my ears.
The best setting for me is Hall. I have it set around 10:30 Decay, zero Liveliness, 10:30 Level and the sound is exactly what I was looking for. It sounds subtle and natural without much coloration of the original tone other than the added openness of the hall setting. Works with clean tones and heavy distortion. Vast improvement over my previous reverb. I love the fact that this is a real Lexicon reverb sound I am hearing.
Halo and Reverse are interesting settings but I can't really see myself using them very much. They are nice to have, and to be honest I don't think people spend a lot of time going through the dial on a reverb after they find the sound that works for them anyway; so as long as one or two of the more traditional reverbs on this pedal suit your taste, having these two in place of gate or something else more traditional doesn't hurt anything. I consider them bonus settings or freebies.
The only con on this pedal so far (and this should in no way warn you off) is the unreadability of the labels around the Reverb dial. I actually really like the pedal artwork, but the graphics interfere with the small labels around the reverb dial to the point where I just can't see them without bright light and reading glasses. It is almost impossible to tell which reverb you have selected unless you have memorized the positions. My eyes aren't 20/20 anymore, so that contributes a lot, but I have heard complaints about the labels before and have to agree that it is true. Younger eyes may have better results.
But then I heard the "Halo" setting in a demo on YouTube for this pedal. So I bought it to help with my ambient musical creations. This thing works wonderfully with a lot of instruments, but have seen it shine mostly with electronics.
This pedal is very easy to tame and is beautiful looking. The tails it comes with are great, it's packaged so tiny which is great for saving space, and the reverbs sound amazing for the most part. The spring reverb is great, the Halo is Godlike, but the reverse is difficult to get a handle on because it only sounds harsh and scary, not very good for swells.
Either way, this is probably one of the best-valued reverb pedals out there right now, and Digitech have been doing some amazing things these past couple of years, and I'll definitely keep a close eye on what they're doing next. Keep it up Digitech!
The design looks cool, but it's a real pain to read the text.
The sound is really nice. Most of the settings are very usable. The reverse setting isn't for me, though. If the pedal had a mix knob so some of the clean signal came through then I think it would be cool, but on it's own it's a little much.
The modulated setting is interesting. It's not a crazy effect, but it does add something do what you're playing.
I like having several different reverb options in one pedal.
I suppose if you need multiple settings of reverb the Strymon would be better for you. But I just kneel down and turn the knobs when I need to change sounds. Imagine that? Plus this Digitech is about $400 less. You can’t go wrong with Lexicon reverb sounds, which are in the Digitech. Industry standard reverb sound now for well over 30 years.

The only negative comment I have for this pedal is that the knobs on the unit I received are a very cheap grey plastic and not the metal knobs as featured. The pedal art is beautiful but the cheap knobs really do take away for the beauty of the unit.
So yeah that's the damn deal. 👍🏼👍🏼 The tone suits my Moog Sirin perfectly; it sounds part of the tone, as if it were built into the synth. Very natural. Still a bit unsure about the reverse but to be fair I've hardly played with it.
Anwyay, I've uploaded a video. It's taken by phone, so the sound is a bit sh*t, but you'll get the idea.
